This sequence of advertising placed by the International Silver Co. illustrates  the development of the company and the way in which it marketed its products.

Early International Silver Advertisements

This Meriden Britannia ad predates the 1898 merger of Meriden Britannia with other Connecticut silverplate companies to form International Silver.

In this 1906 International Silver ad, the name of Meriden Britannia is still dominant, with International Silver Company in parentheses.

International Silver liked to emphasize the historical roots of its 1847 Rogers Bros. line, as shown in the 1907 ad. Note that the name Meriden Britannia is still dominant in the ad.

International maintained a separate brand identity for the products and marks of the companies which comprised it. In this 1920 ad, the name Holmes & Edwards Silver Co. is dominant, and the address given is in Bridgeport, not Meriden.

Here is another example of International's  maintenance of brand identity in this 1924 ad for the Wm Rogers & Son line. This time the name International Silver Co. is larger, perhaps because this line did not have the reputation for quality of either the 1847 Rogers Bros. or Holmes & Edwards brands.
