Fall Walks 2003
| September
25 ~ Bell Island ~ This
once-casual beach development is rapidly gentrifying. Local Resident
Nahun Hacohen sometimes joins us to offer his insights into this
neighborhood. Wonderful views of Long Island Sound. |
 |
October
2 ~ Southport ~ See
a historic harbor neighborhood on foot, enjoying its 19th
century houses and well-cultivated gardens. A favorite with all past
walk groups.
|
| October
9 ~ Sherwood Island ~ We
explore this Connecticut State Park with its beaches, marshes, vistas
and nature paths, and also visit the new September 11 Memorial, shown
below.
|
| October
16 ~ Silvermine ~ We enjoy this Norwalk-Wilton-New Canaan
neighborhood as we stroll along the Silvermine River, observing
waterfalls, ducks, and fall colors. If time permits, we’ll also make a
stop at the Silvermine
Gallery. |
 |
| October
23 ~ Weir Farm ~ Connecticut’s only National Park, Weir Farm was
the country home of impressionist painter J. Alden Weir and the site of
many of his paintings. We do a country ramble through fields and
orchards. |
|
We meet in the Atrium of the East Campus building and arrange
transportation from there.
Walks are on pavement or on
nature paths. Wear comfortable shoes.
|
The walk schedule is subject to
change due to weather and other circumstances beyond our control.
Rain at 9:00 AM automatically
cancels the scheduled walk. In case of doubt, call the Facilitator,
Julius Gluck, at 847-8217.
